This is the first year Da Lat hosts the national film festival, coinciding with the city’s 130th anniversary. Da Lat has also just joined UNESCO’s network of creative cities in terms of music.
According to Vi Kien Thanh, director of the Cinema Department and head of the film festival organizing board, this year the event attracted more than 5,000 live viewers and 500,000 viewers on digital platforms.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony on November 25th, the director revealed that the festival had received the participation of 177 films, the highest number. Feature films had improved artistic and professional skills, while cartoons, documentaries, and scientific films all met high-quality standards.
Legendary Lang Biang
In June 2015, at the 27th Session of the International Coordinating Council of UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Program (ICC-MAB) held in Paris, the Lang Biang Natural Reserve in Vietnam’s Central Highlands Lam Dong Province has been recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Lang Biang Reserve has retained its values of bio-diversity on a global scale, with the natural scenery mixed in harmony with local cultural features. It has contributed to forming and developing Da Lat to become a city of tourism and an international research centre on tropical forest.
