The Ba Chua Xu Temple on Sam Mountain, a historical and architectural gem located at the foot of Sam Mountain in Nui Sam ward of Chau Doc city, An Giang province, has been recognized for its significant contributions to tourism development in Vietnam. The recognition was given during a forum held in New Delhi by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations and the Global Trade and Technology Council of India, in celebration of UNESCO’s 30th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and India.

The temple has played a crucial role in promoting Vietnamese culture to international tourists and has become a must-visit destination for both domestic and foreign visitors. The temple’s traditional festival, held annually from the 23rd to 27th days of the fourth lunar month, is one of its defining characteristics.

This recent recognition marks an important milestone in the temple’s journey towards being included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In 2022, the Vietnamese Government submitted a dossier to UNESCO to seek the inclusion of the Ba Chua Xu Temple Festival in the list.
