Hirokazu, born in 1962, is a prominent figure in the global film industry. He was nominated for the ‘Directorial Symphony’ category at HIFF 2024, which aims to recognize exceptional directors with a portfolio of influential films characterized by artistic excellence and diversity.

One of his latest films, ‘Monster,’ has been screened in Vietnam and has left a lasting impression on Vietnamese audiences with its thrilling plot and distinctive storytelling technique. Additionally, his film ‘Shoplifters’ won the highest prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

Some of his notable films from the past 30 years include ‘After Life,’ ‘Still Walking,’ ‘Air Doll,’ and ‘Like Father Like Son.’

Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to meet and engage with this celebrated director at HIFF 2024, the first edition of the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival. This event is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of participants, thousands of guests, and around 200 international filmmakers, directors, and artists. Local and international specialists will also serve on the festival’s jury.

The festival will showcase a variety of films and host numerous programs to introduce the Vietnamese movie theater industry to international friends and highlight the development of the global film industry.
