The Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Xuan Dai, recently announced news at a meeting with officials from Me Linh District to discuss ways to increase agricultural productivity.

The last flower festival, themed “Me Linh’s Brilliant Flowers” was a success, attracting large numbers of visitors who were drawn to the impressive displays of flowers of all kinds, ornamental plants, OCOP goods, and handicraft villages. The event was an excellent opportunity to showcase the beauty of Vietnam’s flora, as well as to promote traditional handicrafts.

According to him, Me Linh District is the leading producer of vegetables and flowers in the city, with a notable increase in the value of agricultural products that has had a positive impact on the city’s overall performance.

In order to expand the area of high-quality organic rice, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that it will work in partnership with Me Linh District to invest in technology and equipment for the initial processing and preservation of agricultural products. This investment is expected to improve the quality of organic rice and help farmers produce a larger quantity of the crop.

Hoang Anh Tuan, Chairman of Me Linh District People’s Committee, expressed his hope that the Flower Festival, held annually, would become a unique cultural tourism product of the locality that would attract more visitors.

Situated on the outskirts of Hanoi, Me Linh District boasts nearly 8,100 hectares of agricultural land. This land has become home to various high-tech agricultural models, which have been equipped with modern machinery and equipment to maximize economic efficiency. For example, Tam Dong commune is home to an organic Japonica rice production model, while Dai Thinh commune has a high-tech Phalaenopsis orchid production model. Additionally, Tam Dong commune has also combined organic rice production with adventure tourism to create a unique experience for visitors.

Me Linh District has 75 OCOP products, including 24 four-star products and 51 three-star products. In 2023, the district aims to certify an additional 30 products with either a three-star or higher rating.
