The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai 2023 (Vietnamese traditional long dress for women) Festival, directed by Dang Huong Giang, the Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department, is scheduled to take place from October 27 to 29. The festival will be held in the pedestrian area surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake.

The festival will kick off with an exciting opening program centered around the theme “Discovering the Beauty of Hanoi”. This captivating event will take place at the Ba Kieu Temple area at 8 pm on October 27th. The highlight of the evening will be a visually stunning stage, designed to resemble a train that symbolizes the connection between the past and present. Additionally, attendees can look forward to an exquisite fashion show, showcasing the latest collections from renowned local Ao Dai designers. The program will also include captivating performances, featuring a harmonious blend of traditional folk art and contemporary expressions.
Director Dang Le Minh Tri, the program advisor of the festival, expressed that the purpose of the opening is to provide a platform for the public to discover the timeless charm of Hanoi, spanning from the intricacies of women’s costumes to the diverse range of folk performances.
During the next two days of the festival, on October 28 and 29, a lineup of cultural events is set to take place. On October 28 at 8 pm, the much-anticipated art-music night titled “Colors of Hanoi” will unfold. This memorable evening will showcase renowned singers including Ha Le, Bao Tram, and Nguyen Ngoc Anh, among others, who will serenade the audience with Hanoi-themed songs.
The festival’s exhibition area will feature 60 booths, designed to educate and enlighten visitors about the rich history of Ao dai, Hanoi’s tangible and intangible heritage. These booths will showcase renowned Ao dai brands from the North, Central, and South regions of Vietnam, as well as present exciting new tourism products and promote travel and accommodation options in Hanoi.

One of the key attractions of the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival in 2023 is the Ao Dai Path for Community program, featuring the theme “Strolling around the Sword Lake”. It presents a unique opportunity to capture stunning photos while immersing in the rich culture and history of Hanoi. Visitors will be able to experience the essence of Hanoi’s renowned landmarks, including the One Pillar Pagoda, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Quan Chuong Gate, and West Lake Lotus Pond, all conveniently located in one place.
The “Bach hoa bo hanh” or Ao Dai Parade is a mesmerizing event that takes place around Hoan Kiem Lake. It involves the participation of 100 individuals who adorn the exquisite Ao Dai, showcasing the beauty of Hanoians. The purpose of this event is to promote and preserve the rich traditions of Hanoi, both among the local community and international guests.
The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival showcases various activities including a conference aimed at highlighting the value of Ao Dai and its connection to tourism. Additionally, there will be a captivating Ao Dai flash mob dance performance and other engaging events.
