These individuals are among the 419 authors from 44 provinces and cities across the country who submitted nearly 1,400 photographic works for consideration.

The submissions are stunning, perfectly capturing the nocturnal beauty of Hanoi, as stated by the organizing committee.

In contrast to the city’s vibrant daytime atmosphere, Hanoi at night possesses a tranquil and beguiling charm with its illuminated streets and slumbering residents, offering a multitude of fascinating experiences to all.

An especially awe-inspiring sight in the evening is the Hanoi Opera House. Through its intricate lighting design, the magnificent old French architecture evokes images of a colossal enchanted castle.

Other renowned landmarks in the capital, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Long Bien Bridge, St Joseph’s Cathedral, and the Old Quarter, all shimmer enchantingly under the night sky.

One of the prize-winning photographs depicts locals and international tourists reveling in a “street party” on Ta Hien Street, enjoying draught beer and snacks.

Dong Xuan Market, located in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, not only serves as a bustling trading hub but also serves as a vibrant cultural exchange center, preserving the unique character of the 36 ancient streets which magnetize visitors.

The intersection of Dinh Tien Hoang Street along the picturesque shore of Hoan Kiem Lake is adorned with mesmerizing lights, while passersby witness the ceaseless flow of vehicles.

Tran Thu Ha’s ‘Christmas Vibrant’ claimed the first prize in the single photo category, followed by “Tourists Enjoying Egg Coffee in Hanoi” (Nguyen Duc Toan) and “Shimmering Hoan Kiem” (Le Ngoc Huy) winning the second prize.

Within the photo set category, the first prize went to Pham Quoc Dung’s “Quintessential Academic Traditions – The Night Tour at the Temple of Literature,” the second prize was awarded to Phan Huy Thie’s “Night Market,” and the two third prizes were bestowed upon Hoang Van Duong’s “Son Tay Ancient Citadel at the Mid-Autumn Festival” and Kieu Anh Dung’s “Thang Long Water Puppet Show.”

Launched by the Hanoi Tourism Department in November 2023, the “Welcome Ha Noi City” photo contest targeted young individuals and international tourists who were encouraged to share photos of Hanoi at night on their social media profiles using the designated contest hashtags.

This initiative is just one of many undertaken by Hanoi to promote the captivating and lively image of the capital to the rest of the world.

The photo competition artfully captures the familiar scenes of Hanoi.
