The 2023 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival kicked off on the evening of October 27 at Ba Kieu Temple and the walking area around Hoan Kiem Lake.

The festival, organized by the Department of Tourism and the Hanoi Women’s Union, aims to promote the Vietnamese traditional Ao Dai as a “tourism ambassador,” and establish the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival as a signature tourism product of the city.

This cultural event also serves as a commemoration of significant holidays in 2023, particularly the 69th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha stated that the festival is in line with the Government’s Resolution on the development of the cultural industry in the capital.

Throughout the ten months of 2023, the municipal People’s Committee has organized numerous events to promote cultural and tourism development, including the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival.

In 2023, Hanoi successfully hosted over 2,000 events and cultural activities, attracting approximately 24 million tourists, including four million international visitors, recording a remarkable 2.66-fold increase compared to the previous year.

This festival aims to showcase the beauty of the Vietnamese traditional long dress, Ao Dai. The city expects to welcome more than 20 million domestic tourists, contributing to the capital’s economic growth.

The festival, scheduled from October 27 to 29, features a series of cultural activities that highlight the splendid image of Hanoi and celebrate the Vietnamese Ao Dai.

The grand opening ceremony was skillfully performed by renowned artists, including violinist Dao Quang Huy, who has garnered prestigious music awards and performed at various national art shows.

During the event, attendees had the opportunity to admire Ao Dai collections from talented designers nationwide, such as Viet Bao, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, Ngoc Han, Thanh Hai, Y Van Hien, Dung Nguyen, Hoang Ly, Vu Thao Giang, as well as popular Ao Dai brands like OZ Design House and La Sen Vu Ao Dai.

The festival’s highlight is the Ao Dai parade event called “Bach Hoa bo hanh,” featuring 100 models who will showcase their Ao Dai on the morning of October 29.

On the night of October 28, a vibrant art-music performance titled “Colors of Hanoi” will take place, featuring famous singers such as Ha Le, Bao Tram, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, and more, who will enchant the audience with Hanoi-themed songs.

The festival’s exhibition area will house 60 booths, presenting the history of Ao Dai, Hanoi’s tangible and intangible heritage, renowned Ao Dai brands from the North, Central, and South regions of Vietnam, as well as promoting Hanoi’s new tourism products, travel, and accommodation services.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of Hanoi Tourism, emphasized the significance of the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2023 as a valuable platform to position Hanoi as a “safe, friendly, high-quality, and attractive” tourist destination on the regional tourism map, alluring more domestic and international travelers.
