On October 31, 2019, Hanoi became the first city in Vietnam to receive an official designation by UNESCO as a Creative City, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of the city’s designation as a UNESCO City for Peace.
Since then, the capital of Vietnam has continuously strived to keep its commitments to UNESCO. Until 2025, Hanoi will deploy many programs and projects to honor its commitments as one of UNESCO’s Network of creative cities (UNCC).
The “Hanoi Creative Design festival” has become an annual basis to commend the creativity of the people and enterprises, as well as foster cultural exchange domestically and internationally. The festival for the year 2022 has recently been organized, focusing on the theme of Design & Technology, with more than 40 activities and events organized around the city.
Previously, Hanoi launched its first creative hub: Mailand Hanoi City in the suburban district of Hoai Duc in January this year. The venue aims to be a creative hub where the city’s heritage meets a global network of creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators of all kinds.
