There are many groups of tourists who choose to travel by double-decker bus to visit the city. In total, there are 10 stops for visitors to explore places such as the City Post Office, Ho Chi Minh Museum, War Remnants Museum, Bui Vien West Street, Ben Thanh Market, and the Independence Palace.

The image of tourists in front of Ben Thanh market, which was normal in the years before the pandemic, was extremely rare in 2020 and 2021. Therefore, their return is a joy not only in the tourism industry but of the whole economy of Ho Chi Minh City

The presence of international tourists makes Ben Thanh market very lively. Luong Thi Thanh (46 years old) selling clothes at Ben Thanh market for more than 10 years, shared that the 2-year period of the epidemic was an extremely difficult time for her as well as many other small traders at this market.

“I had to witness the scene of Ben Thanh market without tourists during the epidemic to appreciate what we have at the moment. Although the number of visitors to the market has not reached the same level as before the epidemic, I hope that from now until the end of the year and also next year, the state of the city’s tourism industry will gradually improve,” said Thanh.

Inside the Museum of War Remnants, there are 3 floors of exhibits and document exhibitions with many topics such as war crimes, aggression, the world’s support for Vietnam’s resistance, the consequences of Agent Orange, and the nation’s epic history.

Visitors can listen to the guide talk about the Independence Palace, a witness to the history of Ho Chi Minh City. This structure was built in 1962 and completed in 1966 on an area of 12 hectares, located between four streets: Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Du, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai.

Tran Minh Man (owner of a restaurant on Bui Vien Street) shared: “The epidemic has adversely affected the whole world, not only our country, so at this time, the tourism demand of foreign tourists is also very high. This is a good opportunity for businessmen like me to develop our shop and “revive” after the pandemic.”

Bui Vien is located in the Western Quarter including a large area in the city center, with streets such as Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham, Do Quang Dau, and recently expanded through Cong Quynh, Nguyen Cu Trinh, and Tran Hung Dao. If visitors want to know to what extent the city’s tourism has revived, they just need to come here.
