Hundreds of people gravitated to the square of The Garden Mall in District 5 to watch the show, a new activity organized by the local People’s Committee to promote the art of lion dancing and attract tourists.
The performance is scheduled to take place on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
The dancers will perform three times each day at 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm, and 7:30 pm.

The Ho Chi Minh City Lion and Dragon Dance Federation has selected 10 famous troupes, namely Nhon Nghia Duong, Hang Anh Duong, Tinh Anh Duong, and Hao Dung Duong, among others, to choreograph a 30-minute performance that includes lion dancing and martial arts.
Vice-chairman of District 5 Nguyen Vo Xuan Ky said that the district administration plans to coordinate with local travel agencies in adding this program to city tours in order to serve both domestic and international visitors.
The lion dance performance is expected to be held every week in 2023.

This program offers not only a new entertainment spot for residents and tourists, but also a playground for lion dance groups in the city, said Nguyen Ngoc An, deputy director of Fiditour Travel JSC.
It will also bring lion dance closer to the common people, An added.
