Through consistent implementation of a foreign policy based on independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification, and active international integration, the diplomatic sector has expanded and deepened relationships with numerous partners.

Vietnam has capitalized on favorable international conditions to attract resources from abroad for its socio-economic development.

The diplomatic sector has actively promoted comprehensive and extensive international integration to continually enhance Vietnam’s standing and position. Moreover, the country has successfully hosted numerous international events and fulfilled important international missions.

The significant accomplishments achieved by Vietnam across all fields during its 35 years of renewal and two-year tenure as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2020-2021 term, as well as the recent visit to the UN by State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the 44th anniversary of Vietnam’s membership in the UN, once again validate the Party and State’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification, and active international integration.
