The “Hanoi Fashion Journey 2024” showcase and the “Rock: Hanoi, Home Coming” concert thrilled audiences on the evening of November 11 at the August Revolution Square and Hanoi Opera House.
These dynamic events were part of the much-anticipated Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, which took over various locations across the vibrant city of Hanoi.
The “Hanoi Fashion Journey 2024” show was a creative highlight, inspired by the city’s energetic transformation and youthful spirit. It narrated Hanoi’s story through the centuries, showcasing unique designs from talented students of multiple universities, including the University of Industrial Fine Arts and Duy Tan University (Danang).
The event was divided into three captivating chapters: “Old Hanoi”, “Integrating Hanoi”, and “Future Symbols of Hanoi,” each with its distinct theme and style. “Old Hanoi” celebrated ancient beauty, ethnic cultural elements, and traditional stories, while “Integrating Hanoi” fused East and West in a modern embrace. The final chapter, “Future Symbols of Hanoi,” presented a groundbreaking vision, combining advanced technology and cultural heritage for a sustainable tomorrow.
The fashion collections impressively blended traditional artistic elements, such as water wave patterns and folk songs, with modern fashion’s boundary-pushing creativity, creating a unique and memorable spectacle.
The concert, “Rock: Hanoi, Home Coming,” featured a fantastic lineup of young and veteran rock artists from Hanoi. Ly Buc, the opening act, captivated the audience with a cover of Nirvana’s iconic “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” blending modern metal with pop and indie elements. Their performance was followed by Blue Whales, a ‘Gen Z’ band that skillfully performed ‘heavy’ music, with the duo of Gia Nhu and Minh Quan delivering unique vocal interplay.
The veteran bands then took center stage, with Thuy Trieu Do (Red Tide) kicking off their set with legendary songs like “Nguoi Hat Rong” and “Thoi Gian.” Ngu Cung, one of Vietnam’s top bands, nearly brought down the stage with their energetic performance, combining the talents of young vocalists and veteran musicians. The concert concluded with Purple Blues, whose covers of romantic classics by ABBA and The Beatles provided a perfect end to the evening.
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, themed “Creative Crossroads,” offered a platform for over 500 creative units, architects, artisans, and young designers to showcase their talents. With more than 110 creative activities across 12 cultural industries, the festival ignited the creative spirit of Hanoi, leaving a lasting impression on residents and tourists alike.
