Eco-consciousness is a priority for tourist sites and accommodations on the island, as they opt for paper cups and bamboo straws, reducing their environmental footprint.

Autogrill VFS F&B, with a presence at Phu Quoc International Airport, has taken a strong stance against plastic pollution. Nguyen Thi Thanh Trang, manager of their stores, shared that their food and beverage establishments have completely ditched plastic bags, cups, and straws for more sustainable alternatives.
As of January 2024, their efforts have resulted in a remarkable 95% reduction in plastic waste. Their establishments now exclusively use paper cups and straws, along with eco-friendly spoons and boxes, contributing to the larger goal of environmental protection on the island.
Nguyen Minh Dong, director of Phu Quoc International Airport, confirmed that many stores and restaurants within the airport have embraced eco-friendly practices. “With millions of visitors passing through our airport each year,” Dong stated, “we are committed to environmental protection and encouraging sustainable practices among our tourists and airport establishments.”
