A unique and refreshing summer drink, Trà Bánh Tráng Trộn, has become a signature offering at Cai Tiem Ca Phe shop, run by Nguyen Hoang Chinh Nghia, known as Bong Tim on TikTok, and his partners.
This innovative beverage has sparked curiosity and debate on social media, with many intrigued by its unusual combination of flavors.
The drink artfully blends sweet tea with the savory notes of a traditional Vietnamese salad, creating a complex and intriguing taste profile. At its core, the salad consists of shredded rice paper, shrimp salt, and kumquat juice, resulting in a delightful symphony of sweet, sour, and salty flavors.
To elevate the experience, it’s garnished with shredded green mango, boiled quail eggs, and fresh Vietnamese coriander, adding a crunchy texture and a subtle herbal aroma.

According to Bong Tim, the co-owner of the cafe, the creation of this drink was a meticulous process. Quail eggs, in particular, required a delicate soft-boiling technique and marination in a special sauce to ensure they complemented the other flavors perfectly. He also revealed that it took two months of collaboration with a connoisseur and around eight trials before they finalized the recipe.
