Ma The Anh, Head of the Department, sheds light on the event’s quadrennial occurrence, emphasizing its role in fostering cultural exchange and international collaboration within the fine arts sphere across ASEAN. This platform, according to Anh, offers regional artists a unique opportunity to exhibit their talents, exchange ideas, and share innovative techniques in art creation, all while celebrating the diverse peoples and landscapes of ASEAN nations.

Citizens of the ten ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, are invited to participate. Their artistic expressions, crafted between 2020 and 2024, will encompass a range of graphic art forms, such as woodcut, metal engraving, gypsum engraving, rubber engraving, stone print, and unique prints.

The heart of this competition lies in its themes. Artists are encouraged to explore various facets of life, celebrate humanity, and capture the beauty of natural landscapes. Additionally, contemporary issues, peace, solidarity, cooperation, and the spirit of friendship that binds ASEAN nations together will be central to the artworks. The organizing board will carefully select approximately 200 graphic artworks for an exhibition scheduled for December in Hanoi or Hai Phong.

With its inception in 2012, the ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition has become a celebrated event, now in its fourth edition. This year promises to be a showcase of exceptional artistic talent and a testament to the vibrant cultural exchange within the ASEAN community.
