Acclaimed Austrian trumpeter Anna Koch, a specialist in contemporary music composition and improvisation, shared her expertise on the clarinet, a renowned wind instrument in classical, military, and jazz ensembles. She described the clarinet’s distinctive construction, typically crafted from dark wood with metal keys. In Austrian folk music, the clarinet is often accompanied by the accordion and two-band guitar, together creating a rich tapestry of traditional and popular melodies.

Dr. Hans-Peter Glanzer, the Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam, provided insightful context for the event, titled “May Melody.” He explained that the occasion commemorates European Day in May, which marks the release of the historic Truman Declaration—a pivotal moment in the pursuit of European integration, peace, and unity. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the program would serve as a platform to introduce and showcase Austrian folk music to Vietnamese audiences through the captivating melodies of the clarinet.
