Addressing the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong emphasized that Dien Bien, the birthplace of the glorious Dien Bien Phu Victory 70 years ago, has achieved significant progress in socio-economic development and has become a welcoming and appealing tourist destination.
With various cultural, sports, and tourism events scheduled throughout the year, Dien Bien aims to attract more visitors from all over the country and abroad, and establish itself as a prominent destination on the domestic and international tourism map.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha stated that the theme of Visit Vietnam Year 2024 – Glorious Dien Bien Phu – Infinite Experiences – is based on the heroic significance of the victory, as well as the majestic nature of the borderland region and the iconic Ban flower.
The Ban flower holds great cultural and spiritual significance to the community in the northwestern region, symbolizing eternal love and the aspiration for everlasting happiness.
He called upon localities to actively respond to Visit Vietnam Year 2024, and advised Dien Bien to implement comprehensive measures in planning and attracting investments to create unique tourism products, while also promoting the cultural identity of local ethnic minority groups through the development of community-based tourism.
He stressed the importance of every citizen becoming a cultural ambassador, with a responsibility to preserve and protect the environment and landscapes, as they are the source of life for the present and the future.
Following the opening ceremony, an artistic program titled “Visiting the Land of Ban Flowers” took place, showcasing the highlights of the National Tourism Year and the Ban Flower Festival. This magnificent program incorporated various theatrical elements such as music, dance, and stage performances. It also utilized multimedia presentations including video clips, 3D and 4D visual art, laser projections, and fireworks. Innovative technology, like fly cameras, was used to create captivating effects for the audience.
The Ban Flower Festival, held from March 16 to 18, features a diverse range of activities, including the U Va Legend open-air show, sports competitions, exhibitions of local specialties and craft village products, traditional art performances, and a showcase of traditional ethnic costumes.
Within the framework of the event, a national symposium on Dien Bien’s potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development, as well as the Sparkling Ban Flower Land photo contest, will also take place.
