The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam on March 1 co-organized a ceremony to celebrate Bulgaria’s National Day (March 3, 1878-2024) in the city, according to VNA.
In his speech at the event, Bulgarian Ambassador Pavlin Todorov stated that the ceremony serves as a way to commemorate Bulgaria’s presence in Vietnam, and it contributes to the development of the relationship between the two nations.
The ambassador emphasized that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria has been maintained and developed in various areas. Alongside strong political and diplomatic ties, the economic and trade relations between the two countries have made positive progress and have plenty of potential for further improvement in the future.

Bulgaria and Vietnam have the potential for collaboration in various fields, including science and technology, energy, industry, agriculture, healthcare, information technology, tourism, education and training, and local cooperation, highlighted the ambassador.
People-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries play a crucial role in strengthening their relations, he added. Bulgaria highly values the existing associations and communities of Vietnamese citizens who have studied, lived, and worked in Bulgaria, seeing them as invaluable assets in their relationship with Vietnam. They firmly believe that these associations will continue to contribute to building a genuine and effective partnership between the two countries in many areas of mutual interest.
As the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations approaches (February 8, 1950-2025), there will be new opportunities for further strengthening the relations between the two countries for the common benefit of both.
In response, President of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Thai Lan, emphasized that the two countries have a longstanding bond of friendship. Bulgaria was one of the first ten countries in the world to recognize Vietnam’s independence and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on February 8, 1950. In 2013, their relations were elevated to a strategic partnership, opening up new avenues for cooperation.
Over the past 74 years, the governments and people of both countries have continuously fostered their traditional friendship in various areas such as politics, diplomacy, culture, science, education, and security-defense, she remarked.
Book festival “Hanoi – City for Peace” opens
