On Thursday, the Vietnam Smart City Awards 2023 recognized outstanding achievements in smart city development.

Hanoi was awarded in the category of ‘Startup – Innovation – Creativity’ for its efforts in building a database that will support its transformation into a smart city. Additionally, the city released an open data set to benefit state agencies, residents, firms, and organizations.

Hanoi is actively working on deploying digital infrastructure and data centers.

Ho Chi Minh City was recognized for its implementation of a smart electronic toll collection system in infrastructure, buildings, and public utilities at seaports.

This system is a result of the city’s efforts to integrate information technology into state governance.

In addition, the coastal city of Da Nang received recognition for its exceptional achievements in smart public services, infrastructure management, smart environment management, and its support for innovative startups.

Da Nang was also named an ‘excellent city’ for its smart urban construction and development.

Southern Tay Ninh Province was acknowledged for its intelligent operations.

The Vietnam Smart City Awards 2023, organized by the Vietnam Association for Software and IT Services, took place on July 20. The awards were presented in three categories: smart cities, smart real estate projects, and digital solutions for smart cities.

Since its initiation in 2020, these annual awards have been recognizing cities and provinces, real estate developers, and tech firms for their contributions to the development of smart and sustainable cities in Vietnam.
