During the forum, the municipal Department of Tourism and the Department of Foreign Affairs presented two main topics: ‘Building Da Nang into a community tourism destination’ and ‘Digital transformation promotes innovation and development of tourism cities’.
The forum aims to propose policies to support the effective and sustainable development of inter-regional and international tourism, as well as promote cooperation in cultural tourism and the development of suitable tourism products to attract more international tourists. This is especially relevant as China reopens its borders to foreign tourists.
Prior to the forum, the Da Nang delegation had a working session with leaders of Henan province. Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his gratitude for the invitation to attend the International Mayors’ Forum on Tourism and briefed the Chinese hosts on Da Nang’s achievements, potential, strengths, and development plans.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed 557,151 Chinese visitors in the first half of 2023. Vietnam has consistently been one of the top five suppliers of tourists to China.
