HCM City Festival in Porto Promotes Trade, Investment, Tourism, and Culture

The HCM City Festival in Porto, held from July 28-30, is the largest trade, investment, tourism, and culture promotion event organized by the HCM City People’s Committee in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in France and Portugal, and Porto authorities. Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Duong Anh Duc, stated in his opening remarks that this event aims to bring Vietnam’s southern metropolis closer to international friends, foster cooperation between Vietnam and countries worldwide including Portugal, and strengthen the friendship between HCM City and Porto. The festival is expected to be held annually.

HCM City and Porto have recently signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing friendship and cooperation, highlighting the potential for Vietnam and Portugal to intensify their trade ties. Porto Mayor Rui Moreira expressed his hopes that the festival will contribute to consolidating relations between Porto and Vietnamese localities while promoting new economic, scientific, and environmental strengths.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France and Portugal, Dinh Toan Thang, highlighted the importance of using the festival as an opportunity to establish new partnerships, strengthen existing relations, and build long-term friendships. The festival also includes an economic cooperation forum organized by the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre, where more than 100 business representatives from HCM City, Porto, and neighboring European countries gathered to discuss the business environment, propose ideas to their leaders, and explore cooperation opportunities.

In addition to performances by Vietnamese and Portuguese artists, the festival showcases Vietnamese agricultural products, handicrafts, traditional costumes, and folk games. It also features a photo exhibition showcasing HCM City’s development and integration.
