Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam urges development of cultural industry

NDO - Relevant agencies should pay strong attention to the development of cultural industry, contributing to the country’s economic development and promoting Vietnamese culture to the world.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement while attending a conference held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) in Hanoi on December 25, which aimed to review the ten-year implementation of the Cultural Development Strategy.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy PM appreciated the achievements gained by the cultural sector over the past ten years.

He said the figures showed that the public awareness of culture has been raised, especially in Government and Party committees at all levels.

Arts and literature witnessed great development, while the cultural enjoyment of people has been increased higher than before, added Deputy PM Dam.

He also emphasised the necessity of setting out specificstandards, measurements and criteria for culture to assess and orient society in the coming times.

During the period of the fourth industrial revolution, the agencies at all levels should seriously acknowledge and thoroughly grasp its impacts on the culture to select several sectors towards making breakthrough steps, noted the Deputy PM.

According to report by the MoCST. the Cultural Development Strategy by 2020 has made positive impacts on many fields of the social life, contributing to the implementation of grassroots democracy, political stability, maintaining social security and order, and preventing and combating social evils.
