The 2023 edition of the DIFF (Dazzling International Fireworks Festival), themed “The Peace for Humanity”, will have its opening ceremony on the evening of June 2, with a competition between Vietnam and Finland. The defending champion of DIFF 2019, Joho Pyro Professional Fireworks from Finland, will be present in the event to add to the enthusiasm, and spectators will be able to witness the amazing display of fireworks artistry and expertise of the team.

In 2019, the Finnish team joined the festival for the first time and won the championship title in spectacular fashion, showcasing their creativity and amazing display. Every performance by JoHo Pyro left the audience in awe. Johan Hollander, the captain of Joho Pyro Professional Fireworks, stated that the team hopes to deliver a dynamic and emotional performance at the event.

While Finland will be expressing intense emotion and love in their display, the host team from Vietnam will be telling a story of peace and friendship through their 20 minute and 25 second performance, themed “Da Nang – the Sound of Peace”. The performance is divided into three parts; the first uses music and fireworks to evoke emotion in the audience, the second showcases the resilience of Da Nang people in overcoming post-COVID-19 challenges, and the third highlights the desire for peace, stability, and happiness for people all around the world. Tran Van Hung from the Vietnamese team said that their performance will contribute to promoting the value of peace and friendship among nations.

This year, the stage has been decorated with a modern LED laser lighting system, providing the best views of the entire fireworks area. Spanning 1,050 sq.m along the Han River bank on Tran Hung Dao Street of Son Tra district, the DIFF stage also features a 5,000-seat grandstand. Visitors and locals will not only be able to witness the city in its sparkling night sky and marvel at the impressive fireworks displays in Da Nang, but they will also be able to take part in the opening ceremony art programme, featuring renowned artists such as Ho Ngoc Ha and Tung Duong.

The opening ceremony of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) will be broadcast live on VTV1 channel of the Vietnam Television. Themed “The World Without Distance”, the festival is set to take place from June 2 to July 8 and will feature eight teams from the UK, Italy, Poland, France, Australia, Canada, Finland, and Vietnam. Each team will put on a 20-minute performance based on five themes: No Distance Love, Peace for the World, Equality for Human Being, No Limits Innovation, and Sustainable Tourism Development. The two best teams will compete to take the top prize on the final night – July 8. Da Nang has been hosting a fireworks festival since 2008, and the DIFF has helped the city earn recognition as Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination in 2016 and 2022 by the World Travel Awards.
