Rose Cao, also known as Cao Thi Huyen, has made history by becoming the first Vietnamese winner of the world’s most prestigious annual flower show organized by Britain’s Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in London from May 23 to 27. The remarkable achievement has earned her global recognition and admiration from the horticulture community.

Her stunning display of Vietnamese orchids, including the rare and exotic Phalaenopsis Lady Rose, captivated the judges and won her the gold medal in the Floral Design category. The display also included an array of other blooms such as roses, lilies, and tulips, all of which were carefully arranged in a beautiful and eye-catching manner.

Cao’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication she has put into her craft over the years. She has not only earned the admiration of her peers but has also inspired many aspiring florists to pursue their dreams. This impressive victory is a reminder of the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving one’s goals.

Rose stated that her design portrays an image of a flame and incorporates an array of flowers in shades of purple and yellow to create a natural radiance that illuminates the flower lamp post.

According to the florist, her design adheres to the Chelsea Flower Show’s criteria for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly horticulture – as it does not use any plastic.

Rose had six months to prepare her design for submission to the 50-judge exhibition jury. She used the time to carefully craft her project, ensuring the quality of her work met the high standard expected by the judges. She worked diligently to create a piece that would capture the attention of the jurors and showcase her talent. She sought feedback from her peers and mentors, refined her design, and crossed her fingers that she had done enough to be chosen. Finally, the day of the exhibition arrived and Rose nervously presented her design to the judges. After a long wait, she was elated to hear that her design had been selected!

Rose states that the hard work she puts in is incredibly rewarding. She is filled with immense pride at being a winner, and the opportunity to showcase her floral art – designed by a Vietnamese artist – to flower-lovers in Britain.

“The award can help motivate Vietnamese floral designers to demonstrate their creativity and skill in such a renowned competition as the Chelsea Flower Show,” she stated.
