Overview of Ly Son island tourism
Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province, located about 30 km from the shore, with an area of nearly 10 km2 and a population of more than 20,000 people. Tourists who visited the island have an unforgettable impression in their hearts. Hence, they want to come back here the next time.
Ly Son island district consists of 3 islands: Lon, Be and Mu Cu Island. Big Island, also known as Cu Lao Re, is the center of Ly Son. Dao Be island is also known as An Binh. Mu Cu islet in the east, adjacent to Big Island, is the smallest and uninhabited island.
Beaches on the island are beautiful and clear, and the people are extremely friendly and hospitable. This is the reason why the number of tourists is increasing each year.
Interesting tourist destinations on the island
Be Island is 15 minutes from Big Island by boat, it may take you around VND 40,000 (US$1.71) of the boat ticket price. Millions of years ago, the island was built by volcanic eruptions and became a typical geological region, where you can see the ancient black rock layers. There are many exploration options depending on the preferences and length of stay. If it only took a round trip, you will take a half of the morning, VND 50,000 (USD 2.14) for a tour around the island with a free guide and driver.
Be island is famous for its beautiful beach, white sand, and crystal blue water. There are some small homestays. Especially, the pictures in the wall of these homestays boost the colorful settings of the island village, which is full of moss and fish sauce smelts.

In Lon Island, there are more electric tourist cars, taxis, motorbikes, markets, bars than Be island. If you want to explore Lon island by yourself, you can rent a motorbike or electric car to travel around. Motorcycles are almost any hotel available for rent, VND 120,000 per day (USD5.14 per day), and the price of renting an electric tourist car is VND 600,000 per day (USD26).

Any citizen on the island can let you know all the places you need to go such as Hoang Sa Bac Hai gallery, demonstrating the sovereignty of Hoang Sa, Hang Pagoda deep in the foot of a mountain, National Flagpole on top of Thoi Loi, Gate To Vo, Cau cave with an erecting stone beach and the crater is now a mountain freshwater lake.

The cost of living cannot be cheaper here, the price for double rooms is around VND 300,000 (US$12.9) while that of coffee is just around 15,000VND per cup (USD 0.64), noodles or rice noodles VND 30,000 (USD 1.29), hot soybeans 5,000 VND per bottle (USD 0.21 per bottle).
Otherwide, there are other specialties cooked from moonfish, squid, snails and shrimp. Here is especially known for salads from seaweed, jellyfish or garlic. These salads have a distinctive, fresh flavor.

The transportations help visitors to the island
Planes
The nearest airport to go to Sa Ky port (where there are high speed trains to Ly Son) is Chu Lai airport in Quang Nam, there are 3 flights per week from Hanoi to Chu Lai. If traveling by plane, you should rent a car to go from Chu Lai airport to Sa Ky port (about 50km).
Passenger cars
From Hanoi and Saigon, there are many high quality car companies to Quang Ngai, you can contact the agency to book tickets in advance (from 2 – 5 days depending on the time). If you want to book the bus to Quang Ngai from Hanoi or Saigon, you can contact The Sinh Tourist, Camel or Hoang Long agency.
Train
Every day, from Hanoi and Saigon, there are 5 Thong Nhat trains going in and out of North and South, depending on your time period, you can choose a suitable train (The odd trains from Hanoi to, an even number train goes from Saigon).
From Sa Ky port and Ly Son port, there are also 3 high-speed trains to the island per day. Boats leave the port between 7:30 and 9 o’clock. Ticket office is open at 6:30 every day, each person will be entitled to buy 2 tickets, when buying tickets, they will have to declare your name, year of birth, address, ID card number.

Suitable time to visitLy Son island
Visiting Ly Son island is most favorable at the following three seasons:
• In summer, from June to September, the weather is quite nice and sunny, suitable for going to the beach.
• Ly Son garlic season began to be planted in September and harvested around early December.
• The Hoang Sa soldier ceremony takes place on March 18-19-20 (lunar calendar).
