French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet applauded veteran Vietnamese paralympic athlete Le Van Cong for his outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, presenting him with a traditional letter of congratulations.

Brochet expressed his hope that Cong would continue to excel and achieve further success at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.

He commended Cong for not only his impressive athletic achievements but also for spreading a message of perseverance and inspiring confidence in the public.

The ambassador wished for enhanced sports cooperation between Vietnam and France and highlighted the success of the Paris 2024 Paralympics in fostering a competitive spirit among international para-athletes.

Olivier affirmed his commitment to sending cooperation proposals to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, strengthening the bond between the two nations in the realm of sports.

Pham Thanh Tu, director of the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted Cong’s remarkable achievement as the first Vietnamese athlete to win medals in three consecutive Paralympic Games: a gold in Rio 2016, a silver in Tokyo 2020, and a bronze in Paris 2024.

Tu expressed gratitude to Ambassador Brochet for his support of Vietnam’s athletes and noted that his visit to the training center served as a source of encouragement for both coaches and athletes, fostering a spirit of international collaboration.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics, an inclusive and inspiring event, featured 549 competitions for athletes with disabilities.

Vietnam’s delegation to the Games consisted of a dedicated team of 14 members, including four officers, three coaches, and seven athletes, all from Ho Chi Minh City, showcasing their talent in various sports.

Le Van Cong, a weightlifting athlete, was the sole medalist for Vietnam at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, adding to his impressive collection of medals from previous Games.
