Trang, a player from the Vietnamese women’s national football team, has recently received an invitation from Lank FC Vilaverdense. This invitation follows the recruitment of her national teammate, Huynh Nhu, by the Portuguese club in August 2022. Huynh Nhu was signed to play in Portugal’s top-tier women’s football league, with the option to extend for another season. Lank FC Vilaverdense had previously attempted to sign midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung and forward Pham Hai Yen in 2020, but the recruitment was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and paperwork complications.
Trang expressed her uncertainty about the invitation in a Facebook post on Monday. As a 35-year-old player, she considered herself older in football terms and was unsure if she could compete at the high level of the Portuguese league. However, she viewed this opportunity as the greatest honor of her life and expressed gratitude to those who have shown faith in her.
Trang is currently representing Vietnam in their debut appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand, although she hasn’t been given playing time yet. Despite this, scouts from Lank FC Vilaverdense noticed Trang’s exceptional performance in previous matches, not just on the World Cup field. She has played 51 international games for the national team, according to VTC News.
In addition to her national team role, Trang plays a key midfield position for Ho Chi Minh City I Women’s Football Club.
