The game ended in dramatic fashion when Joel Matip scored an own goal in injury time, giving Tottenham a 2-1 win and pushing them above Liverpool into second place.
On the other hand, Manchester United had their worst ever start to a Premier League season, sitting in 10th place after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace. Aston Villa had a dominant performance against Brighton, winning 6-1, with Ollie Watkins scoring a hat-trick. This victory moved Villa ahead of Brighton into fifth place on goal difference. Luton also celebrated their first-ever Premier League win with a 2-1 victory against Everton. Sheffield United remained at the bottom after a 2-0 loss to West Ham, with Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio finding the back of the net for the Hammers.
