Youths from Island Nations Participate in Contest to Gain Knowledge of National Sovereignty

From July 5-7, the 2nd Coast Guard Region Command celebrated the beauty of the island of Cu Lao Xanh (Binh Dinh) by hosting a contest entitled "I love my hometown - sea and island" for 60 students.

This is part of the “Marine police accompany fishermen” programs held on Cu Lao Xanh and also to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam’s Marine Police Force (August 28 1998-2023).

On this occasion, the 2nd Coast Guard Region Command awarded 10 bicycles and 50 scholarships to students with difficult circumstances who excelled in studying at Nhon Chau Primary & Secondary School in order to encourage them to go to school.

The students received support from the “Scholarships to support students – ethnic minority students, students with difficult circumstances” program.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Colonel Kieu Khanh Dung, Political Director of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, said the contest is a way to spread the propaganda about love and responsibility of each individual for the sovereignty of the country’s sea and islands.

“Protecting the sea and islands is the responsibility, obligation and great honor of the people, especially the students – the future leaders of the country. We hope that you will constantly study hard, increase strengthen solidarity between the military and the peoples to build and firmly defend the country’s sovereignty over the sea and islands,” said Colonel Kieu Khanh Dung.

On this occasion, the 2nd Coast Guard Region Command also presented insignia to Nhon Chau High School for contributing to quality teaching and learning efficiency. According to the organizing committee, this is a practical event to mark the upcoming Tradition ay of Vietnam’s Marine Police Force.
