From November 28 to December 2, 2023, Vinpearl Nha Trang hosted a spectacular golf tournament, featuring 60 golf “legends” including Euan McIntosh, Emanuele Canonica, John Price, James Kingston, Adilson Da Silva, Stephen Dodd, Joakim Haeggman, Peter Baker, and Markus Brier. This historic event marked the first-ever European professional golf tournament in Southeast Asia.
After two days of friendly Pro-Am rounds with Vietnamese and international golfers, the legendary golfers competed in three thrilling official rounds. Adilson da Silva, the Brazilian maestro, displayed exceptional form and secured a well-deserved victory. Along with the prestigious Dong Son Bronze Drum replica trophy, a symbol of Vietnamese tradition, he also won a prize package valued at an impressive 93,500 USD.
Scott Hend took second place, while Ricardo Gonzalez and Michael Campbell, the US Open 2005 champion, shared third place. The top three contenders received prizes totaling 200,000 USD, and the organizers plan to increase future event prize funds to an astounding 1 million USD.
The tournament took place at Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang, an internationally acclaimed 18-hole golf course nestled on the picturesque Hon Tre island. With its stunning design, the course blends seamlessly with the azure sea and majestic mountains, offering challenging fairways, hilly terrain, and ever-changing sea breezes—captivating players with its unique charm.
Over the course of three days, the legendary golfers delivered awe-inspiring performances, showcasing their perfect swings, precise putts, and astonishing ball trajectories. Notably, on the second day of competition, legendary English golfer Malcolm MacKenzie recorded a Hole-In-One (HIO) at the par 3 Hole 13. The hole, known for its panoramic view of the sea and challenging terrain, provided an exhilarating moment that left spectators cheering. Malcolm MacKenzie’s remarkable achievement earned him an “all-in-one” vacation at Vinpearl valued at 250 million VND and a one-year stay at the Pullman Vung Tau Hotel worth 100 million VND.
