The 2022 International Circus Festival, which saw the participation of nine domestic and foreign troupes, closed on December 7 at Hanoi Central Circus after a week of brilliant performances, VNA & VOV reported.
The Dec. 2-7 event was jointly arranged by the Performing Arts Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the Vietnam Circus Federation, and other relevant organizations.
The troupes came from six countries, namely Canada, Belarus, Laos, Cambodia, Egypt and host Vietnam. Vietnam was represented by four troupes from Phuong Nam Art Theater, Vietnam Circus Federation, Hanoi Circus & Variety Theatre and Vietnam School of Circus and Variety Arts.
Performers showcased acrobatics, juggling, tightrope walking, magic tricks and others which are imbued with the cultural identity of each country.
Within the framework of the event, domestic and foreign artists performed on pedestrian streets around Hoan Liem Lake, Hanoi.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, hailed the success of the festival, saying it offers a good opportunity for artists to exchange experience, contributing to the development of circus in Vietnam and the world
Chairman of the arts council Ta Duy Anh stated that the quality of this year’s festival had improved with many promising young talents.

At the closing ceremony, three gold medals were presented to three circus acts by practitioners from the Vietnam Circus Federation, the Vietnam School of Circus and Variety Arts, and Phuong Nam Arts Theatre.
The organising board also awarded eight silver and three bronze medals along with sub-prizes to the best choreographer, the best coach, and the best group of artists.
The International Circus Festival is held every three years and aims to promote cooperation in culture and arts between Vietnam and other countries.
The next festival is scheduled to take place in 2025.
