Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Sim Sang Joon – Director of the Vietnam-Korea Cultural Exchange Center spoked about of the close relationship between the two Southeast Asian nations.
“Over the past 30 years, Vietnam – Korea relations have become increasingly close, exchanges between the two countries are also becoming more vibrant. If the exchange of national specialties between the two countries becomes more active, I believe that we will see healthy Korean specialties on Vietnamese dining tables soon and healthy Vietnamese specialties also appear on Korean dining tables, too. I hope that everyone will enjoy and immerse themselves in the festival today,” said Dr. Sim Sang Joon.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Vice President of Hanoi University said that December 2022 is the 30th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea. Based on the solid foundation built over the past 30 years, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will grow stronger and deeper, bringing practical benefits and contributing to the prosperous development of each country.
According to Dr. Dung, the festival helps bring Korean culture closer to Vietnamese people in general and Vietnamese students in particular where attendees can directly participate in processing and enjoying Kimchi and other Korean dishes, as well as see and experience Korean food culture.

At the festival, Vietnamese students were guided and introduced by Korean culinary experts on how to prepare ingredients for each dish, nutritional content and value, as well as cultural features of Korean tradition.

Attendees also experience participating in Korean traditional games; enjoy Kpop Dance Cover performances and experience wearing Hanbok; participate in Ring the Golden Bell and receive various valuable gifts brought from Korea by the organizers.

“The event not only brings Korean culinary culture closer to Vietnamese people, but also contributes to promoting and strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Korea,” said Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc – Dean of Korean Language Department, Hanoi University.
Painting contest held for buffaloes joining ploughing festival in Ha Nam
A buffalo painting contest for the Doi Son Tich Dien (ploughing) Festivalwas held on February 10, or the sixth day of the Lunar New Year in Doi Son commune, Duy Tien district, the northern province of Ha Nam.
