Resumen Latinoamericano (Argentina) published an article about Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet’s press interview about the historical significance of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In the newspaper published on April 23, Resumen Latinoamericano emphasized that in just a few days, the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory will take place, marking the worst defeat of colonialism.

The newspaper quoted Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet, 70 years ago, after 56 days and nights of courageous, and creative fighting, the Vietnamese army and people destroyed the entire Dien Bien Phu stronghold.

Vietnam destroyed and captured all French troops, shot down 62 planes, captured 64 vehicles and all weapons, warehouses, military equipment and supplies of the French army.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet affirmed the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh in the people’s resistance war, gathering the great national unity bloc, promoting the spirit of patriotism, and revolutionary heroism to achieve the victory of Dien Bien Phu.

During the long and arduous resistance war, the Vietnamese people received strong support and valuable assistance from socialist countries, oppressed peoples in Asia, Africa and Latin America, especially the fighting alliance between the three Indochina countries, and the struggle movements of progressive people in the world, including the progressive people of France.

Regarding the historical significance of the Dien Bien Phu victory, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet emphasized that the Dien Bien Phu battle was the pinnacle of the resistance war against the French colonialists.

It created the basic and decisive basis for the signing of the Geneva Accords on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam, opening a new revolutionary period, bringing North Vietnam to the transition to socialism, serving as a solid rear for the cause of the struggle to completely liberate the South, and unify the country.

The Dien Bien Phu victory affirmed the correct and creative resistance policy of the Communist Party and the growth of the Vietnam People’s Army, which was the basis for Vietnam to later defeat the American invaders for Southern liberation and national unification.

According to Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet, the Dien Bien Phu victory is a shining symbol in the national liberation movement, which overthrew old colonialism and opened a new page of history for humanity, contributing to changing the world situation.

The victory awakened and encouraged oppressed peoples around the world to rise up and fight for independence and freedom, forcing the French government to grant independence to many countries in Asia and Africa.

On April 22, the page El Popular, the mouthpiece of the Uruguayan Communist Party, also published an interview with Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet, which affirmed that following the Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954, the Vietnamese people continued to write the brilliant epic in the Ho Chi Minh era, establishing glorious victories such as the aerial victory of Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in 1972, the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975, Southern liberation and national unification. The Vietnamese people continue to build socialism, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet emphasized that the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory is an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to be more proud of the glorious Communist Party, of the great President Ho Chi Minh who led the Vietnamese revolution to overcome all hardships and gain victories.

The historic Dien Bien Phu victory will forever be a source of pride and a source of great strength to encourage the Vietnamese people to develop a prosperous and happy country, striving to become a developed and high-income country in the mid-21st century.
