Vietnam’s Vu Quang National Park is a remote, north-central haven for the country’s rare bovine species. Tucked away along the border with Laos, this national park is one of the least explored destinations in Vietnam. Unlike other popular tourist spots, Vu Quang National Park is often overlooked by travelers. Instead, people catch a glimpse of its natural beauty while passing by on a train or airplane.

Known as the “green pearl” of Ha Tinh, Vu Quang National Park is a treasure trove of rich natural resources and unique landscapes. This park also holds significant historical value from the feudal years.

Since its establishment in 2002, Vu Quang National Park, located in Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh, has become a favorite summer picnic and trekking destination for locals. The park primarily consists of lowland forest ecosystems and is situated near Ha Tinh City, which is around an hour’s drive from the central city.

Near the national park, there are several villages worth visiting, with Nga Phuc Dong being a popular choice. However, the remote location of Vu Quang National Park presents both advantages and disadvantages, with accessibility being the biggest challenge.

Vu Quang National Park boasts over 76% of the natural forest area in the region and is known for its rich biodiversity and majestic natural landscapes. This hidden gem is a paradise for adventure lovers and those who seek to explore the mysteries of the forest.

The best time to visit Vu Quang is from April to October when the weather is pleasant, making it ideal for picnics and trekking activities. With ongoing conservation efforts and the discovery of new species each year, visitors to Vu Quang National Park can witness the success of Vietnam’s conservation programs firsthand.

Vu Quang National Park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. There are more than 1,829 species of higher plants, 94 species of mammals, 58 species of reptiles, 315 species of birds, 31 species of amphibians, 316 species of butterflies, 88 species of bony fish, 73 species of ants, and 28 species of spiders.

In addition to its rich biodiversity, the park offers stunning landscapes, including beautiful waterfalls and mysterious trails. Visitors, including tourists and scientists, are drawn to this destination to explore and learn. Those who embark on a journey to Vu Quang National Park will be captivated by its serene scenery and fresh atmosphere.

Accommodation and restaurant services are limited within the park, so visitors are advised to bring their own food and water.

While the park does not offer many facilities, visitors can arrange boat rides on the lakes or rivers within the area. Tour guides can assist with organizing boat tours or include them in pre-booked itineraries.

Exploring Vu Quang National Park alone is not recommended due to its remote and challenging trails. Hiring a guide is the easiest way to experience the park, especially for those with limited time. Local guides can provide transportation, highlight specific attractions, arrange boat tours, lead hikes, and offer assistance in navigating the park.
