According to TripAdvisor, Hue is a city located along the Perfume River and is home to numerous historical sites, many of which are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Some of the must-see attractions in Hue include the intricate Imperial Citadel, the vibrant Thanh Toan Bridge, the royal tombs, and the Forbidden Purple City.

The Hue Citadel complex served as the residence of nine Nguyen lords and 13 Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Its construction spanned over 31 years, from 1802 to 1833. Each of the tombs within the citadel was designed to reflect the unique temperament, philosophy, and priorities of the respective Nguyen kings.
Described by TripAdvisor as a “forgotten, almost mythological world,” the Hue Citadel and Imperial Tombs are adorned with moss-covered towers nestled in the hills and weathered stone warriors standing guard over the deceased.
Several Vietnamese Destinations Featured in TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Rankings
In the “Top Destinations” category of the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations Awards 2024, Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, secures the 4th position. Hoi An, an ancient city in Quang Nam province, takes the 10th spot among the world’s top 25 destinations.
Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO heritage site, and the town of Sa Pa in the northern highlands of Vietnam were also recognized among the world’s 25 top trending destinations this year, as voted by TripAdvisor readers.
“Travelers visit Ha Long Bay to marvel at its magnificent limestone islands, rock formations, and enchanting caves, sculpted over centuries by wind and water,” wrote Tripadvisor.

A Replica of Hue in South Vietnam
Nguyen Thanh Tung lived in Hue for only five years, but its beauty has been deeply carved in his mind.
