Tra Co Beach is about 10km northeast of the centre of the city of Mong Cai so we travelled there by taking a bus of the Km 15 bus route, costing only 10,000VND/each. We started our trip at 5.am and arrived at the beach at sunrise with the first sunbeams, forming a majestic landscape. The beach is about 17 kilometers long from the Got Cape in the north to the Ngoc Cape in the south. The water was so turquoise and clean that one could see mountains and rows of greenish trees reflected on the water.

It would be an interesting experience for any Vietnamese to arrive at Sa Vi Cape, the first point in the northeast of the “S-shaped Vietnam” where they could take photos to show their presence there. Sa Vi Cape is located on the border so from there we can see Got Cape where the first landmark, No.1378, of the boundaries between Vietnam and China is planted.
The fishing village is also located on this boundary so we had a chance to witness the life of the local fishermen. The locals have gotten used to the hardships and difficulties on the border so they are sturdy and resilient but very hospitable to tourists. After a few hours of catching fish with the locals, we enjoyed a cozy family meal of fresh seafood right at the floating raft.
In the early afternoon, we visited Sa Vi riding tandem bikes in the cool breezes blowing in from the sea. Unlike other beaches, Tra Co Beach still preserves its primitive beauty, fascinating visitors.
