The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on entities and individuals in China, Hong Kong, and Iran complicit in procuring critical components for Iran’s military endeavors, as reported by chinaglobalsouth.

In a statement, Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson asserted, “Today’s action exposes additional key front companies and trusted agents through which Iran has sought to acquire these components.”

Nelson further emphasized that the US is committed to imposing consequences on those who enable Iran to produce these lethal weapons, underlining their determination to curb Iran’s military capabilities.

According to the Treasury, the sanctioned entities and individuals were involved in obtaining accelerometers and gyroscopes. These components are integral to the guidance, navigation, and control systems utilized by Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) in their ballistic missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) programs.

Among the sanctioned is a front company based in China, Beijing Shiny Nights Technology Development Company, and another in Iran, Electro Optic Sairan Industries, showcasing the global network involved in supporting Iran’s military endeavors.

Tuesday’s sanctions are the latest in a series of measures taken by the Treasury and the State Department to hold accountable those who have played a role in advancing Iran’s ballistic missile and UAV capabilities.
