In the early morning, Provincial Road 623 winds its way through wild mountains and forests, bringing travelers to the center of the highland district of Son Tay. The majestic peaks are illuminated in the pre-dawn light, creating a breathtaking backdrop for the journey.

The village of the Kadong people is located around terraced fields in this peaceful highland. In addition to watching the stunning sunrise by the valley of clouds, visitors can also immerse themselves in the festival of “eating buffalo” with the villagers here. Every year, from March to April, the villagers of Son Tay upland district organize this festival. They make bamboo poles, sacrifice buffaloes to the gods, and perform gong dances, praying for a good harvest and good health.

Leaders of Son Tay district have shared that their people, with their honest and hospitable nature, and their unique cultural identity, are the most valuable asset in their land.

“When we visited the mountainous region of Son Tay, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful terraced fields on the hillside. I felt as though I had been transported to the breathtakingly beautiful Northwest,” shared Nguyen Thi Anh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, visitors can also take a boat to explore Dakdrinh Hydroelectric Lake, which is likened to the “Ha Long Bay on land” of the highlands of Quang Ngai. By joining in the fishing activities with local people, visitors can relax in the reservoir area of Dakdrinh Hydroelectric Power Station and enjoy a variety of delicious dishes such as freshwater fish, grilled Ky pig, and wild vegetables.
