Renowned author Nguyen The Ky has unveiled his latest work, a novel titled “From Viet Bac to Hanoi,” which chronicles the life of the iconic leader, Nguyen Ai Quoc, also known as President Ho Chi Minh. This release commemorates the 134th birthday of the beloved leader, falling on May 19.

“From Viet Bac to Hanoi” is the third installment of a five-volume novel series, “Ten Thousand Miles of the Homeland” (Nuoc Non Van Dam). It delves into the pivotal moments in Nguyen Ai Quoc’s life, masterfully blending fictional and non-fictional characters to showcase the leader’s depth, ideology, emotions, talents, and virtues.

Set between 1941 and 1945, the novel captures a tumultuous period in Vietnamese history, where beneath a calm exterior, a revolutionary storm was brewing. It offers readers a glimpse into the strategic vision and sharpness of Ho Chi Minh as he navigated the regions of Cao Bang, Bac Can, and Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen provinces, and forged connections with the Communist Party of China.

Illustrations bring the story to life.

The book also reveals the warm affection that Ho Chi Minh and his comrades received from the Chinese people. As the story progresses towards the end of Volume 3, Nguyen The Ky skillfully depicts the atmosphere of anticipation and heroism leading up to the General Uprising.

With the release of Part 4 expected ahead of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, 2024, the series is set to become the first in contemporary Vietnamese literature to offer a comprehensive, deep, and vivid reflection of President Ho Chi Minh’s life and legacy.

The initial two volumes of the series, “Debt to the Nation” (No Nuoc Non) and “Sea Voyage” (Lenh Denh Bon Bien), focus on Nguyen Ai Quoc’s early years as Nguyen Sinh Cung-Nguyen Tat Thanh and his journey to the West under the alias Nguyen Van Ba, respectively. They were released in 2022 and 2023, setting the stage for the latest installment.
