Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, was celebrated this year from June 15th to 19th. An integral part of the festivities is the offering of prayers and the sacrifice of an animal, typically a goat, sheep, cow, or camel.
In the spirit of giving and community, devout Muslims distribute the meat in thirds: one-third is given to the less fortunate, another third is shared with friends and family, and the final third is kept for the performer of the Qurbani (sacrifice).
Octa, an international broker with a strong presence in Indonesia and Malaysia, embraced the spirit of Eid al-Adha by extending a helping hand to those in need. Understanding the importance of giving back to the communities in which it operates, Octa partnered with local organizations to ensure a joyful and meaningful celebration for all.
In Malaysia, Octa collaborated with Azeehan, a local broker partner known for their charitable initiatives. Together, they distributed meat from the sacrifice of two cows to approximately 300 people in Kelantan. Azeehan expressed gratitude for Octa’s sponsorship, highlighting the noble act of sharing Qurban meat with the underprivileged as a way to combat hunger and poverty.
True to its values, Octa consistently contributes to local communities through various charitable endeavors. For instance, in January, they sponsored an emergency support program in Bali, Indonesia, following challenging weather conditions. Their commitment to making a difference was further demonstrated in their collaboration with the IDEP Foundation in Indonesia, where they provided funding for the purchase and distribution of three cows’ meat to over 400 Muslims in need in Banyubiru village, Jembrana, Bali.
This particular charity initiative targeted families impacted by coastal abrasion and high waves. According to IDEP, it represented an ongoing commitment to care for and support the affected community. One of the recipients expressed their appreciation, noting that the meat allowed them not only to prepare a special dish but also to bring their relatives and children together.
