Around the end of May or the beginning of June, one of the most popular destinations in Vietnam is Moc Chau because Moc Chau is in the season of ripe plums.

For foodies, plum picking is a must for summer. When the plums are in the right season, the skin is smooth, the inside is red, the inside is red, one bite is crispy and then the sweet and sour taste pops in you mouth.

Plums in Moc Chau can be spotted at Co Keo valley, Phien Khoang valley, Thanh Binh plum garden, etc. However, among them, Na Ka valley and Mu Nau valley always attract crowds of tourists. Here you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and the 100-hectare plum orchards and the quality is top-knot.

In the beautiful nature of the Northwest mountains, breathe in the fresh air, and hand-pick the ripe plums on the branches and eat them on the spot. What a treat!

Remember to contact the garden owners right at the foot of the valley. The garden owners here are very enthusiastic and hospitable. The price to enter the garden only from VND 20,000 – 30,000 for 1 person (US $0.86 – 1.31).

You can freely visit, pick, and try plum care activities such as fertilizing, watering and eating plums for free. If you want to bring back plums, you need to pay an additional fee to the garden owner.

Experience picking plums in the valley

The plum forests in Moc Chau are likened to the “roof” of the province at the altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, so it is suitable for those who want to enjoy the fresh air.

The plum trees in here valley are 25-40 years old, planted and cultivated by generations of Moc Chau’s people. The taste of the plum, therefore, is created by the hard work of the farmers, their sons and daughters. You can feel their love for the homeland in each bite.

You will be provided with a hunchback containing plums worn on your back, picking plum bunches of plums with their white chalky, fresh white powder still on them will definitely be an unforgettable experience.

Standing in the middle of a green plum garden, with big mountains in the background, can help you reconnect with nature.

The road to Mu Nau plum valley

Mu Nau plum valley is located in sub-zone 13, Moc Chau town (towards homestay Pho Nui Love), about 5km from the town center. You have to go from the headquarters of the District Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Moc Chau district, then cross the hill behind the headquarters. Continuing to cross the steep trail about 2km long, you will reach Mu Nau plum valley.

If the weather allows, you can bring a mat to go for a picnic under the plum trees. The tips to choose a good plum is to check the plum’s skin. Choose fresh fruit with no bruises or insect stings.

If the plum is still a bit hard when touched, the plum is not fully ripe. When the plum is just ripe, it will be a bit soft, at this time the plum meat inside will be firm and crispy. The elasticity of the plums can tell a lot about its ripeness. If it its bouncy, it will be very juicy and have a sweet and sour taste.

Also, it is better to pick plums early in the morning when the gardens have a lot of plums during the day.
