Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai attended the 29th International Conference on the Future of Asia (FOA) in Tokyo from May 22-25. The conference, organized by Nikkei Group since 1995, is the most prestigious annual event of its kind in Asia.
Over the years, the FOA has witnessed the region’s ups and downs, from financial crises to global pandemics, and has served as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation.
The conference program includes roundtable discussions and keynote addresses on a range of topics, including international cooperation in higher education, sustainable economic partnerships, and the pursuit of zero emissions.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s participation underscores Vietnam’s commitment to regional and global engagement, as well as its support for initiatives that foster dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, Pham Quang Hieu, emphasized that Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s presence at the conference highlights Vietnam’s image as a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of ASEAN and the international community.
The timing of the working trip coincides with a period of growing Vietnam-Japan ties, especially after the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s visit to Japan reaffirms Vietnam’s support for Japanese initiatives and marks a significant step in the new relationship framework between the two countries.
Vietnam has been an active participant in the FOA since 2009, sending high-level delegations to stay abreast of development trends, seek solutions to common challenges, and build a brighter future.
