Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said the festival, to be held annually, is aimed at building handicraft village tourism products and promoting craft village and trade street tourism.
It would also be an opportunity for traditional craft villages in Hanoi and across the country to seek cooperation opportunities.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at the Doan Mon Gate square where various cultural activities and art performances will take place.
This year’s festival will feature 200 booths that are divided into six areas displaying handicrafts from Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide, including Bat Trang ceramic, Van Phuc silk, Ha Thai lacquer, and Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan, among others.
Presentations on the history of the craft villages as well as the making process of handicrafts will also be on the festival’s program.
Besides, folk games will be organized to entertain children and visitors, such as tug of war, walking on stilts, swinging, jumping rope, blindfolded catching goats, and walking on bamboo bridges, among others.
The culinary space will introduce many Hanoi specialties of bun thang or noodle soup with mixed ingredients, pho Hanoi or Hanoi noodle soup with beef or chicken, and Phu Thuong sticky rice as well as some royal dishes.
Visitors to Hanoi Craft Village Festival 2022 will have the opportunity to take souvenir photos with simulation models of the theme of the old town, “Hanoi 36 streets” and Hanoi during the subsidy period, among others.
