The zone covers two streets, Ngu Xa and Nguyen Khac Hieu, traversing the centre of Dao Ngoc – Ngu Xa, the folk name for a 4.5ha islet on Truc Bach Lake in Truc Bach ward.
It is the second food street in Hanoi after the first came up at Tong Duy Tan-Cam Chi in Hoan Kiem District 10 years ago.
The Dao Ngoc-Ngu Xa area will be closed to vehicles from 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Existing restaurants and market activities will be maintained while products recognised under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme will be promoted. Traditional Ngu Xa bronze casting will also be introduced at the bronze casting museum.
Apart from street cultural events on the weekend, there will be traditional activities at historical and cultural relic sites such as Than Quang Pagoda and Ngu Xa Communal House in spring festivals.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Ba Dinh People’s Committee Ta Nam Chien expressed his hope that the Dao Ngoc – Ngu Xa food zone will become a new culinary destination in the district while helping introduce local OCOP and tourism products and promote the traditional bronze casting.
Hanoi welcomed 1.27 million international arrivals and 15.75 million domestic tourists in the first eleven months of this year, earning VND48.35 trillion (2.05 billion USD) from the sector.
With the1.27 million international visitors recorded, the capital city fulfilled the target set for the entire year.

The city served some 1.61 million holidaymakers in November, including 1.35 million locals, and pocketed roughly VND4.39 trillion from services.
Dang Huong Giang, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism said the autumn-winter season is the peak time for Hanoi to welcome visitors, especially international arrivals.
