Golf Tournament Commemorates 50 Years of Vietnam-Italy Diplomatic Relations

On the afternoon of May 31, in Hanoi, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) held an exciting press conference to announce the kickoff of the “First ICHAM CUP”, a binational golf tournament. This tournament is being held in Vinh Phuc on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy (March 23, 1973 – March 23, 2023) and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries (2013-2023). The event will be an opportunity for participants to celebrate the strong bond between Vietnam and Italy.

The tournament, held from May 31 to August 7, 2023, saw the participation of more than 100 players, guests of honor, successful businessmen, partners and members of ICHAM. In addition to the tournament, there were also several side activities, such as the seminar entitled “Sustainability and Energy Transformation,” and networking events designed to foster business growth.

Speaking at the event, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro emphasized the significance of the announcement ceremony of “The First ICHAM CUP” in promoting sports tourism and strengthening the bond between the two countries.

The First ICHAM CUP tournament consists of four groups: A, B, C, and the Women’s Group. Prizes for the event include a First Prize, a Second Prize, and a Third Prize for each group, with valuable rewards to be won.

To further enhance the appeal of the tournament, the organizer will offer even more valuable prizes. These include rewards for the male and female players with the farthest golf swing, the player with the closest swing to the flag, and the player whose swing is closest to the white line in the middle of the fairway. Additionally, there will be a Hole in One prize and a special prize for a promising player.

Coincidentally, 2023 is also the year of the Ryder Cup in Italy – one of the most prestigious tournaments in the golf world. However, at the First ICHAM CUP, the prize is not limited to the first place winner, but will be distributed among many categories,” Daniele Landini, representative of the sponsor Piaggio Vietnam, announced the award categories.

The organizers of ICHAM hope that the tournament will be a bridge for fostering diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy, providing a highlight to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. Moreover, it is an opportunity for Italian businesses to network, exchange knowledge, and expand their presence in Vietnam.
