Finding The Name Of The Mesmerizing Lonely Red-Leaf Tree In Lam Dong

In recent days, hundreds of young people have searched for the lonely red tree in village 10A, Loc Thanh commune, Bao Lam district, Lam Dong province to check in with this spectacular scenery.

“I was fascinated with the beauty of this tree. It has a unique bright red color, that’s why I drove more than 300 km to this place to see it,” Ha Phuong, a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, said excitedly.

However, most do not know exactly what the above red-leaved tree is, or which family of trees it belongs to.

Although many people have used Google search engines to identify the place of the tree, there is still much discussion surrounding the exact name of this ravishing red-leaved tree.

The local people living here have been familiar with the red-leaved trees and tourists flock to see the trees to capture the most amazing photoshoots. They said this is a red-leaf Jamblon and grows naturally.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Viet Thanh, a Vietnamese engineer, said this is a Kentucky coffeetree, and the scientific name is Gymnocladus angustifolius. This is a native plant in Lam Dong.

“This is a native plant that grows naturally in the mountains and hills in the southern Central Highlands, Lam Dong,” said Thanh, adding that his team is looking for a way to research and propagate this plant.

The color of the leaves depends on the weather. Usually, when the weather is cold, the leaves are darker in color. The leaves are red from January to April. Then they will turn yellow, then orange, and finally green.

This is a woody plant with a wide canopy, the leaves are bird-tailed and bright red. In the sunlight, the bright red color of the leaves brightens up the whole sky.

Anh Thu, a traveler from Ho Chi Minh City, made it her mission to witness the pretty tree.

“On the way to Da Lat when I heard about the red–leaf tree in Loc Thanh, I and my friends and decided to take a look. The road there is quite difficult to drive, but the end result was satisfying, as we were able to witness the unique beauty of the tree.”

In the early days of the year, due to the increasing number of tourists coming to the red-leaf tree to admire the beauty and check-in, people also opened food and water stalls to make a profit. Those who want to take pictures must buy a bottle of water for VND20000 (US$0.84).

To get to the red-leaved tree, from Highway 20, Dai Binh intersection, Bao Loc city, visitors turn to Highway 55, to village 10a, Loc Thanh commune. From here, you will go about 10 km more to the foot of Chua mountain, where there are 2 red-leaved trees located about 2 km apart.
