Liquidambar formosana is a large, native, deciduous tree that can grow up to 30-40m tall. The leaves are 10-15 cm wide. During autumn, the foliage of the L. formosana turns a beautiful red color. The leaves grow in an alternate arrangement and have a simple, palmately-veined shape with serrated margins. These trees usually grow in woodland areas within warm temperate zones. They require moist soil and can tolerate light to no-shade conditions.
