Mikazuki Group and authorities of Da Nang city on July 1 inaugurated a pedestrian bridge as part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2023), VNA reported.

Odaka Yoshimune, chairman of the Mikazuki Group, said the overpass connects Da Nang Mikazuki entertainment complex and a beach across Nguyen Tat Thanh street. The bridge will allow local people and visitors to safely reach the beach and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the locality.

With a total investment of VND 42 billion (nearly USD 1.8 million), the bridge is nearly 13 metres tall and over 140 metres long, with a floor area of approximately 655 sq.m. The pathway leading up to the bridge is designed as a knot in the art of Japanese weaving, symbolising the strong bond between the Vietnamese and Japanese cultures.

The structure’s shape is inspired by ocean waves, creating a sense of lightness, tranquility, and integration with the surrounding landscape. On the outside, two observation decks are complemented by spiral steel staircases and elevators, providing easy access for people with disabilities to cross the bridge.

The bridge would help visitors walk safely from the Japanese Mikazuki Da Nang Resort & Spa resort and other entertainment centres to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street along the beach in the tourism district.

At the same time, it would be a place to meet, exchange and bond the friendship between the people of the two countries, he added.

“We are very happy to present the ‘friendship bridge’ to Da Nang. We will continue making more efforts to contribute to making Da Nang a tourist destination that can compete with other famous destinations and resorts in the world” Mr. Odaka Yoshimune emphasised.

According to the chairman, after one year of operation, the complex has welcomed more than 490,000 guests to stay at the hotel, play at the water park and enjoy events and wedding services.

The Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa has gradually become a favorite destination for both domestic and foreign holiday-makers, helping the local tourism sector recover and develop faster.

Currently, Japan is the leading foreign investor in the number of FDI projects in Da Nang with 222 projects and total investment capital of more than USD 1 billion.

The city has planned several programmes through out this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations, including meetings, cultural exchanges, festivals, Japanese film festival, investment and trade cooperation promotion conferences, among others.

At the Saturday banquet co-hosted by the ODK Mikazuki Vietnam Co., Ltd and Japan’s Mikazuki Hotel Group, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh expressed his delight at the increasingly fruitful development of the friendship and economic cooperation relations between Da Nang and Japanese localities and enterprises over recent years.

Many Japanese businesses and investors have had successful projects in the city, including the VND 3,900 billion Mikazuki Hotel developed by the Mikazuki Hotel Group, Da Nang Today reported, citing Minh.

Also, such large Japanese corporations as Sumitomo and Aeon Mall are also showing their keen interest in projects in Da Nang.

The annual Japanese Cultural Festival in Da Nang draws much attention from delegations from many Japanese localities.

A number of cultural and student exchange activities, and high-quality human resource training programmes, have been organised by Da Nang and Japanese localities.

Recent years have witnessed some important miles stones in the Vietnam-Japan friendship. Specifically, the Japanese Consulate General in Da Nang was set up in January 2022, the Mikazuki Hotel was opened to the public on June 8, 2022, and the pedestrian overpass crossing Nguyen Tat Thanh Street was inaugurated on July 1, 2023.
