Ma Pi Leng Pass is located at an altitude of 1,200 km above sea level and is made up of a series of sediments such as non-silicate rocks or shale. The pass has a total length of nearly 20km, stretching from Dong Van town to Meo Vac district in Ha Giang province, Kien thuc reported.

Ma Pi Leng Pass is well-known for its legendary Nho Que River which originates from Yunnan (China), flows into Vietnam at the northernmost point of Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district. The year-round blue color of Nho Que River combining with the imposing beauty of mountain ranges will certainly take the visitors’ breath away.

Standing on Ma Pi Leng, visitors will have the chance to take in the entire view of Hem Tu San (Tu San Abyss Alley that boasts both majestic and poetic charm.

O Quy Ho Pass

O Quy Ho Pass is located at the National Highway 4D and connects the two provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau. The pass has a total length of up to 50 km.

O Quy Ho is one of the “must-explore” passes of many backpackers. One side of O Quy Ho pass is abyss and the other is vertical cliffs offering a thrilling experience.

Due to being situated at an altitude of 2,073m above sea level, O Quy Ho Pass is shrouded by dense mist almost all year round resembling scenery in fairyland. The white seas of clouds hover mountain ranges creating the paradisiac beauty. In addition, O Quy Ho Pass is also an awesome place to admire the sunset.

Pha Din Pass

Pha Din pass is a natural boundary between Dien Bien and Son La provinces and located at an altitude of 1000m above sea level. Pha Din Pass possesses a wild and magnificent beauty that spellbinds a large number of nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

Pha Din Pass is believed to be gorgeous at any time of the year, but spring is the most beautiful season. In spring, the pass is covered by the white of plum blossoms and the pink of peach blossoms blooming all the hill flanks.

Adding to the already beauty of Pha Din Pass is traditionally rustic villages of ethnic minorities where tourists can immerse themselves in the local people’s daily life.

Khau Pha Pass

Khau Pha Pass is one of the most winding and steep passes in Vietnam. It stretches more than 30km and located between two districts of Van Chan and Mu Cang Chai of Yen Bai province.

Khau Pha means the sky’s horn. The pass stuns travelers with its curves that have high mountains on one side and a deep valley on the other.

Khau Pha is the most splendid in September and November as terraced rice fields start to ripen, blanketing the whole region with a yellow hue.
