On the momentous occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, along with a delegation from the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, led by Permanent Deputy Secretary Nguyen Hoang Thao, joined forces to inaugurate the renovated Ho Chi Minh Park in Santiago’s Cerro Navia district.

Ambassador Pham Truong Giang, in his address at the opening ceremony, highlighted the significance of Ho Chi Minh Park as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Chile, a relationship first forged by President Ho Chi Minh and President Salvador Allende.

Ambassador Pham Truong Giang, alongside leaders from Binh Duong province and the Cerro Navia district, cut the ribbon to mark the completion of the Ho Chi Minh Park renovation project.

The relationship between Vietnam and Chile has grown from strength to strength, with increased cooperation across multiple domains. Chile is now one of Vietnam’s key comprehensive partners, with two-way trade flourishing. Vietnam is also in the process of establishing a Defense Attaché Office in Chile to further expand collaboration.

The renovation of Ho Chi Minh Park, along with the Ho Chi Minh Space, funded by Nghe An province, serves not just as a tribute to the beloved leader but also as a cultural hub, providing locals with a space to learn about Vietnam’s rich history and culture.

Permanent Deputy Secretary Nguyen Hoang Thao reminisced about his first visit to Chile in September 2022, where he was deeply touched by the Chilean government’s and the people of Cerro Navia’s dedication to preserving the park, a testament to their admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the people of Vietnam.

The project’s completion on this significant anniversary is a testament to the strong collaboration between the local community, the Vietnamese Embassy, and the Cerro Navia administration.

Mayor of Cerro Navia district, Mauro Tamayo, affirmed that the park renovation project symbolizes the warm ties between the people of Vietnam and Chile, and their respect for President Ho Chi Minh. He commended the successful completion of the project, which has transformed the area into a clean and beautiful green space for the community.

The mayor also announced plans to name a road in the district after Binh Duong, further solidifying the bond between the two regions.
